The air suspension can also be equipped with axle lifting and follow-up steering functions. The follow-up steering can greatly improve the flexibility of the vehicle, reduce the wear of the tires on the three axles, and avoid the unreasonable angle running of the trailer tires when turning in a narrow field. When the turning is over, the pressure bearings squeeze each other to make the wheels return to the straight forward state, ensuring better steering; The optional double axle lift (without the optional servo steering function) can reduce the tire wear when the vehicle is running empty and improve the fuel economy. The effect will be more obvious for users of one-way transportation, which can reduce the tire and fuel consumption. The air suspension is also equipped with a load sensing device. The axle lifting needs to be carried out when the load is less than 10 tons, so as to avoid the risk of non-standard operation.

The axle, as the key, has also played an important role in the development of its air suspension. The camber design allows the trailer to bear vertical force on the tire when it is under heavy load, with a larger contact area with the road surface. The low vibration frequency combined with the air suspension can make the friction between the tire and the ground more uniform, and achieve higher traction efficiency.

The types of trailer axle servo steering technology are relatively complex, and most of them are mainly used for driving in special environments. It also plays a prominent role in the passive follow-up steering axle, greatly prolonging the service life of the tire and effectively reducing the operating and maintenance costs.

According to the official test statistics in Europe, the service life of the tires of trailers equipped with centrifugal force automatic steering axles is twice that of traditional rigid axle trailers. Trailer axle servo steering technology has been applied to trailers for a long time, and has been very mature in the field of vehicle design and manufacturing abroad. But the application of this technology is still a new thing in China, except for the application in special fields.
