Axle refers to the cylinder connecting two wheels on the vehicle to fix it on the vehicle to bear the weight of the body. Each pair of left and right wheels are connected by the axle. A simple example:
It is an axle with relatively simple structure. Of course, the structure of semi-trailer axle is much more complicated, and it is generally installed and used in the way of axle assembly, that is, the axle. The axle not only needs to bear the weight of the body, but also needs to bear the functions of braking and maintaining the vehicle running, so its performance is particularly important for driving safety.
If you know what an axle is, the wheelbase will be easier to understand.
The wheelbase of semi-trailer refers to the distance between the center of front axle and the center of rear axle, passing through the center of two adjacent wheels on the same side of the vehicle, and perpendicular to the vertical symmetry plane of the vehicle.
Semi trailer wheelbase can be divided into fixed wheelbase, bogie wheelbase and full wheelbase:
1. Fixed wheelbase refers to the horizontal distance between the center lines of the front and rear axles in the main frame of a frame type vehicle. In order to pass the curve, the fixed wheelbase should not be too long.
2. Bogie wheelbase refers to the distance between axle centerlines at both ends of a bogie.
3. The full wheelbase refers to the horizontal distance between the center lines of the front and rear axles of the vehicle, that is, the distance from the front axle to the rear axle. It is the main parameter that affects the "turntable length" of the train.
