Role of trailer suspension system

Oct 14, 2022

The function of the trailer suspension system is to attenuate vibration. Its function is to transmit the force and torque between the wheel and the frame, buffer the impact force transmitted to the frame or body from the uneven road surface, and attenuate the vibration caused thereby to ensure smooth driving of the vehicle.

Suspension can be divided into independent suspension and dependent suspension. However, for trailers, dependent suspension is generally used, and dependent suspension can be divided into four types: rigid suspension, single point suspension, steel plate suspension and air suspension.

The trailer suspension system is a general term for the connecting devices between the frame and the axle or wheel. The force and torque between the wheel and the frame are mainly transmitted by it. When the road surface is uneven and the vehicle body is impacted, the suspension system will also play a buffering role to reduce vehicle body vibration and ensure driving comfort and safety.

Different trailer suspension systems have different driving experiences, mainly because the suspension system supports the body and has a great impact on the driving experience. In other words, suspension system is a very important existence, which integrates the existence of various forces and affects the stability, comfort and safety of the vehicle.

The function of the trailer suspension system should be to support the body and improve the riding feeling. Different suspension settings will make the driver have different driving feelings. The seemingly simple suspension system combines multiple forces to determine the stability, comfort and safety of a car. It is one of the key components of a modern car.
